The Barbara Jordan Elementary PTO has an incredible year planned!
The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) with your help is ready to support the students and staff at BJE!
One goal of the PTO is to get each of you connected to BJE.
This can be:
- By joining the PTO
- Volunteering as little or as much as you feel comfortable.
- Visiting the school
- Attending any functions we have at the school (Fall Open House, Literacy Night,
Winter Dance…)
Your support can empower and uplift the entire school community, we welcome any amount of time or money to help us achieve our mission.
HOW DOES THE PTO HELP THE SCHOOL?

School Events
We put on events like the winter dance, the book fair, and teacher appreciation events.

Fundraising
We work with individuals, community partners, and companies to raise funds for our school.

Upgrades, Programs & Teacher Support
We help with needs identified by teachers and the school administration. We also host teacher appreciation luncheons and several other activities during teacher appreciation week.

The number one reason to join the PTO is to benefit your child. By doing this, you also help your childs school. But there are many additional advantages of joining our PTO.
By getting involved at the school you’ll be helping to make positive changes. Our PTO plays an important role by supporting building
improvements through advocacy and play an important role in fundraising for school programs and social/family events.

Where does the money go?
All donations are used to benefit the students and teachers of BJE. We are currently raising funds for a commercial laminator and a poster machine for the campus. We have provided coolers for the school in the past year and we have hosted several teacher appreciation events and initiatives.
I don’t want to donate. How else can I help?
You may support us by volunteering your time. We are always in need of volunteers to help with events and to help with background tasks before and after events. Please reach out to info@bjepto.org if you have any talents you wish to share with us.
What does the PTO do?
The PTO is here to assist our staff by helping recruit volunteers to help in and outside
of the classroom. We also provide events throughout the year.
Are you a registered nonprofit?
As The Barbara Jordan Elementary PTO is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting the students, their families and the teachers of the school. As a 501(c)3 organization, donations to our group are tax-exempt and we are obligated to comply with all 501(c)3 rules and obligations.
Do I have to be a member to donate/volunteer?
While we do want to get as many families as possible engaged and we do encourage the at least one family member of each student to join, membership is not a requirement for volunteers or donors. If you have any questions or need clarification please send an email to info@bjepto.org
Can I receive a receipt for my donation?
Absolutely! If you did not receive a receipt at the time of your donation then please reach out to us at info@bjepto.org if you are in need of documentation to confirm your donation.
